Announcements
Parents: Be on the lookout for the blue folder- this will include the DIS sheet. Please sign and return back to school.
Homework will not be assigned. Only unfinished classwork- if the student chooses to bring home or if a student is absent.
C.A.R.E.S. is our school-wide program.
6th Grade Math
- We have begun the journey of preparing for the 6th grade SOL.
- Students have a 3 ring binder with daily notes to prepare for the exam & Math consumable notebooks.
- We will learn the following concepts:
Integers, Coordinate Plane, Exponents & Perfect Squares, Order of Operations, Properties, Variable Equations, Inequalities, Fractions/Decimals/Percents, Practical Problems, Multiply & Divide Fractions, Operations w/Decimals, Probability, Graphical Methods, Measure of Central Tendency, Quadrilaterals, Problems Solving w/ Circumference & Area, Problems Solving w/ Perimeter, Volume & Surface Area, Congruency, Arithmetic Sequences, Ratios, Measurements
7th grade MATH
- We have begun the journey of preparing for the 7th grade SOL.
- Students have a 3 ring binder with daily notes to prepare for the exam & Math consumable notebooks.
- We will learn the following concepts:
Integer Operations, Number Sense, Expressions, Equations, Inequalities, Probability, Proportional Reasoning, Geometry, Measurement, Statistics
CALCULATORS
For the SOLs
- Students will be using a Scientific Calculator. It is encouraged that a calculator be accessible at home for any unfinished classwork or absence.
- 8th grade will use Texas Instruments TI-30Xa Solar

- 7th grade will use Texas Instruments TI-108 .The cost is a little over $10 !

Unfinished Class Work

- Any unfinished class work will be the student’s responsibility to bring home to complete for homework that night.
- We will remind the student about the incomplete class work & encourage accountability.
8th grade- Pre-Algebra
- We have begun the journey of preparing for the Pre-Algebra SOL.
- Students have a 3 ring binder with daily notes to prepare for the exam.
- We will learn the following concepts:
Squares & Square Roots, Real Numbers, Perfect Squares, Exponents, Scientific Notation, Repeating Decimals, Properties, Conversions, Ordering Decimals, Order of Operations, Solving Equations with a Given Variable, Solving for "x", Solving for "x" on both sides of equal sign/ & with Distributive Property, Solving Inequalities, Practical Problems, Probability, Statistics & Graphs, Angles, Transformations, Slope, Area of figures, Surface Area & Volume
