What is the procedure if my student will be absent from school?
If your student will be absent from school, please call the main office at 703.791.8150 to report the reason for the absence. If your student visited the doctor during their absence, please send in a doctor's note if possible. Your student's absence will be marked as excused or unexcused in accordance with PWCS Regulation 724-1, "Attendance and Excuses."
What is the procedure if my student will be arriving late to school?
If a student arrives at school after 7:20 a.m., they must report to the front desk of the main building to sign in. Parents/Guardians should provide a note stating why the student was tardy. Your student's tardy will be marked as excused or unexcused in accordance with PWCS Regulation 724-1, "Attendance and Excuses."
What is the procedure if my student will be leaving school early?
If a student will be leaving school prior to the 1:30 p.m. dismissal time, parents/guardians or the emergency contact designee should report to the front desk of the main building to present identification. Once office staff has verified the individual is able to pick the student up, staff will call the student to the front lobby for dismissal. If the early dismissal is planned, please notify the school by phone or send in a note containing the reason for leaving, time for dismissal, parent/guardian signature, and a daytime phone number that staff may use to receive verbal confirmation of the dismissal.
My student was absent, how can I get their make up work?
When your student is out due to illness for three (3) consecutive school days, please contact your student's teacher to arrange a date and time to pick up an classwork or homework that was missed. We also encourage our parents/guardians as well as students to
What happens if my student becomes ill while at school?
Any student who becomes ill during the school day will be seen in the clinic for assessment. Parents/Guardians will be notified to discuss the concerns and determine if the student needs to dismissed early.
My student needs lunch money, how can I add money to the account or pay a past due balance?
To manage your student's meal account, please visit MySchoolBucks.com. There you can make prepayments online, pay past due balances, and check how much is on your student's account. If you would like to pay by check, please make the check payable to “PWCSFNS.” Please place checks in an envelope marked clearly with your student's name, ID #, teacher's name, and the amount of money enclosed. Checks may be given directly to the cafeteria staff at the school.
How do I report an address and/or phone number change?
If you are moving, please contact the main office at 703.791.8150, as soon as possible to provide the new address and proof of residency. Once proof of residency has been provided, the office staff will update the address in our system and set up transportation to the new address. Please note, it can take up to one week for transportation changes to take effect.
If you are in need of changing telephone numbers, work information, or emergency contact information, please contact the main office to request the changes.
Parents/Guardians may also access Parent Portal to update their student's information.
Can my student ride a different bus home from school for activities unrelated to school?
If a student needs to ride a different bus home they may bring a note from their parent/guardian to the main office before school. The note should contain the student’s name, their parent’s name and phone number, the name of the person they wish to go home with and their parent's name and contact information, the date they will be riding the bus, and the bus number. The note will be verified with both parents and permission granted on a case-by-case basis.
Can my student take their exams early if my vacation plans conflict with the exam schedule?
Exams cannot be taken early. We allow for exams to be made up during the Summer. Arrangements must be made in advance through Mrs. Pankowski, Principal.
